A short video documentary to identify why Yemeni people started risking their lives and coming to the UK to apply as asylum seekers. We will tell the story of one individual who arrived recently to the UK and compare it with other Yemenis who arrived here legally.
The topic was on the news recently withe coverage from BBC, the guardian and the independent, but mainly articles and podcasts. This should be the first documentary to address the subject.
Muhammad Sayid, a 40-year-old Yemen citizen who left Yemen in 2014 for his safety. Travelled by plan, car, boat and by foot through many countries and eventually arrived in the UK in 2020 and applied for asylum seeker.
Hasn’t seen his family since 2017 when he left a pregnant wife and three boys in Malaysia and promised them that they will join him in Netherlands in two months’ time. Muhammad was refused an asylum seeker status in Netherlands after one year of waiting for the decision.
Five years since Muhammad left his family and they still waiting to see him and join him in the UK where he was granted a permission to live as a refugee.
